With this issue we welcome Deborah Ultan Boudewyns to the editorial board of Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide. Deborah, who is Arts & Architecture Librarian at the University of Minnesota, will have the futuristic title of Access and Preservation Strategist.

As we all know, libraries have gone through a revolution in the past twenty years or so, in part due to the increased presence of digital publications like our own. It has led to entirely new forms of distribution of scholarly publications as well as new concerns about their continued availability. It also has changed the way we search and find scholarly materials.

Deborah, who as an art librarian has skills that other board members lack, will help us to optimize the distribution and searchability of NCAW and to ensure that we are on track when it comes to archiving. We are grateful to her for her willingness to serve on the editorial board, which is, as we all know, an entirely volunteer group.

We have other reasons to be thankful. The Mervat Zahid Cultural Foundation has agreed to support NCAW for the next three years with an annual grant of $5,000. This is a welcome boost indeed to our open-access journal, which relies largely on voluntary contributions. We hope that others will follow this inspirational example and are grateful to all those who already support the journal through donations, by advertising on our home page, or by having joined the Association of Historians of Nineteenth-Century Art (AHNCA) at a special membership level (http://www.ahnca.org/membership).

We hope you will enjoy this issue, which, besides a number of wonderful articles and reviews, features the fourth in our series of digital humanities articles, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
